Recipient of the 2008 USEF/Performance Horse Registry Leading Breeder Award, Sheila Varian enjoyed much success at the 54th Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. With more than 2,500 Arabians competing, there were 50 horses bred by Varian Arabians that placed in nearly every discipline.
Varian Arabians remains the leading farm in production of national, regional and Scottsdale champions. Here are the statistics for horses bred by Varian Arabians for the 2009 Scottsdale show:
Varian Arabians were winners from breeding/halter to junior rider classes to the open stakes at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. Of those 50 wins, there were 41 top tens and ribbon winners, five champions and four reserve champions.
After many years out of the show ring, the well-known stallion Audacious ps has made his home in Arroyo Grande, CA, with Varian Arabians. With Jeff Schall handling, Audacious ps was Reserve Champion Eight Years and Over Stallion and was the oldest horse in the class at 15 years old. His colt Lightning Strike V, out of the Desperado V daughter Lalique V was Champion Yearling in the April 16 through July 31 Colt class.
Although *Jullyen El Jamaal, head stallion at Varian Arabians, remained at the farm to begin the breeding season, he had champions and reserve champions in both performance and breeding/halter.
