The Three Phase Event Gaited Horse Versatility Competition is three weeks away, and organizers wanted to remind everyone that the deadline for entries is midnight, April 1, 2009. Check the website at www.threephaseevent.org for an entry form, dressage tests, and hotel information.
There will be new challenges to the stadium obstacle course, and new zigs and zags to the cross-country course that will keep everyone moving. We are please to announce that our dressage judge, Betty Ortlieb, is offering a dressage clinic on Sunday, April 19, for those competing or to get special one-on-one attention. If you are interested in the clinic, please contact Kristie Wehmeyer at [email protected] to sign up, or if you have questions contact her at (859) 383-0133. Cost of the clinic is $35.00; please note that $10.00 of that fee, Ortlieb is donating back to the Three Phase Event toward their T.E.D. (training, education and development) program.
If you are unfamiliar with the Three Phase Event for Gaited Horses, it is a one of a kind event for gaited horses patterned after the Rolex Three-Day Event. This event targets the seasoned trail and show horses that do not jump but want to demonstrate their versatility in dressage, a set stadium obstacle course and a cross-country course which demands stamina and willingness to meet field challenges. This is an annual event held this year on April 19-20, at the new Kentucky Equestrian Center, 860 Kiddville Road in Winchester, KY. The two-day event is open to all breeds of gaited horses from all over the country and there is a limited number of entry openings for the non-jumping trot horse. For more information regarding the event, please visit www.threephaseevent.com.
Organizers are still looking for program advertisers, so if you are interested in advertising your breed association, your club, your services or your business, this is an inexpensive way to do so. They are also still looking for sponsor for the event, and remember, the Three Phase Event Gaited Horse Versatility Competition is a non profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and all money raised above the cost of putting on the competition goes toward the T.E.D. (training, education and development) program, which is building to give out scholarship money for those going into equine studies.
