Lexington, KY – The 2009 Adequan North American Junior and Young Rider Championships will be presented, for the third year, by Georgina Bloomberg’s Gotham North.

Bloomberg is one of the country’s top young Jumping riders and was a double Individual Gold medalist at the NAJYRC, winning Individual Gold in 2003 and Team Gold in 2002. These championships have showcased the best riders between the ages of 14 and 21 since 1979.

Junior and Young Rider Championship medals are awarded to individuals and teams in four disciplines: the three Olympic disciplines of Dressage, Eventing and Jumping, along with Reining, which was added in 2008 and proved hugely popular.

Bloomberg has gone on to represent the US in Nations Cups in Europe and she has won major classes on both sides of the Atlantic.

“The NAJYRC was a major stepping stone for me in my career,” said Bloomberg, now 26. “It taught me about riding in a championship and the Nations Cup format and gave me the experience of being on a team. Being able to represent my zone was an honor and so rewarding. Being on a Zone 2 team was something that I had dreamed about doing as a pony rider and to win Gold was the best feeling in the world.”

Bloomberg’s support for the Young Riders program since graduating into the senior ranks continues to be steadfast.

“Young Riders taught me so much and gave me so many great experiences and memories, and by sponsoring the championships I hope to be able to give others that opportunity. It is also important that aspiring international riders make this their priority,” said Bloomberg. “The program is a vital step along the way for anyone looking to represent their country in the future and I want to ensure that the NAJYRC gives each Junior and Young Rider the chance to learn and have the experiences that I was able to have.”

The 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior/Young Rider Championships will take place July 21-26, 2009 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
