Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Announces Teams for Upcoming National Championships

Murfreesboro, TN— The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships announces the participating teams in the upcoming championships beginning Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26 at the Miller Coliseum at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN.

The following teams have successfully negotiated regional competitions and qualified through zone finals to qualify to compete in the Hunter Seat team competition at Nationals. Each team will field up to eight riders to compete in each of the eight classes ranging from Walk/Trot Equitation to Open Equitation Over Fences:

Stonehill College
Centenary College
Skidmore College
St. Lawrence University
Penn State University
Lafayette College
Sweet Briar College
Virginia Intermont College
College of Charleston
Berry College
University of Findlay
University of Kentucky
West Texas A&M University
Stanford University
University of Southern California
Purdue University
University of Wisconsin-Madison

The following teams have successfully negotiated regional competitions and qualified through Western Semifinals to qualify to compete in the Western Horsemanship team competition at Nationals. Each will field up to six riders to compete in each of the six classes ranging from Beginner Western Horsemanship to Open Reining:

West Virginia University
St. Andrews Presbyterian College
Berry College
University of Findlay
Michigan State University
Ohio State University
West Texas A&M University
Oregon State University
Black Hawk College

In addition to the team competition, approximately 324 individuals have qualified to compete at the IHSA Nationals. These riders have successfully negotiated regional, hunter seat zone finals and western semifinals, respectively, to earn the right to compete at the IHSA Nationals. These students represent colleges and universities hailing from across the entire country.

Hunter Seat judges will be Geoff Teal and Pam Hunt and Western Horsemanship judges will be Deborah Jones Wright and Allen Mitchells.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of support from the AQHA .

Next year's National Championships will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, from May 6-9, 2010.
