Colorado Summer Classic Horse Shows Readies for 800 Horses to Compete

by By Anne Marie Pacitto | May 14, 2009, 10:54 AM

OSM Horse Shows is pleased to announce the 27th Annual Colorado Summer Classic Horse Shows on June 10-14 and June 17-21, 2009. This prestigious equestrian event, staged in cooperation with The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation, will take place at the Norris-Penrose Event Center, with benefits directed to the Foundation, and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

The show will begin daily at 8 a.m. with show jumping competitions throughout the day. The highlight of the event will be a $25,000 grand prix at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, and Saturday, June 20. The grand prix offers the highest level jumping competition of the show. Each horse-and-rider will jump a sequence of approximately 12 jumps.

About 800 horses in total will compete at the shows—truly a spectacular sport to witness live. In Europe, show jumping is second only to soccer as a televised sport.

Grand prix grandstand seating is only $5 and open to the public and media. Each grand prix will also feature a VIP party in the magnificent clubhouse, with proceeds benefitting the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

VIP party tickets are priced at $65 per person or $400 per table of eight, and include dinner, a silent auction, and exclusive views of the show from the clubhouse balcony. To secure VIP tickets, contact the Sports Corp at (719) 634-7333, ext. 1000, or email Lindsey Lawrence at [email protected].
