Learn Dressage with an Expert at the Las Vegas World Cup

by By Pam Lane | Mar 24, 2005, 9:06 AM

Dressage with the Expert will be offered at the 2005 Las Vegas World Cup, featuring FEI “O” Judge, Cara Whitham. Dressage with the Expert is a fascinating way to “eavesdrop” on the comments an expert might make about the performance of riders and horses while they are actually competing. It is a great way to gain a better understanding of this majestic sport. Whitham has judged all over the world and knows these horses and riders well.

Headsets are available to hear a running commentary on each ride. Learn the subtle details that spell the difference between a good performance and a great one. Whether you are a rider trying to learn more about what the judges watch for, or a spectator interested in gaining a better appreciation of each performance, this is a first rate opportunity to sharpen your skills. Headsets will be available throughout the arena and at the entrance. Cost is $35 rental per headset.

Whitham is currently the only judge in the world to hold two ‘O’ licenses from the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). She will be a judge at the 2005 European Dressage Championships, in Moscow, Russia. Her dressage officiating has included CDIO Aachen, and CDIs in England, Australia, Germany, Italy, Uruguay, the United States and Canada, along with American and Canadian World Cup League Finals and the 2003 Pan American Games. She has officiated at five FEI Dressage World Challenges, three as president of the ground jury, which took her to Asia, India, the Baltic States, Israel, Greece, South Africa and several South American countries.
