The Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society Announces Two Oldenburg Horse Shows and Mare Performance Tests for 2009

Last year the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society, a division of the Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes (German Oldenburg Verband) proudly held the first ever Oldenburg Horse Show and Mare Performance Test at High Point Hanoverians in Chestertown, MD.

The show, open to all Oldenburg registered and breed approved horses, and the mare performance test, open to Oldenburg registered mares, were a great success thanks in great part to the efforts of Angela Barilar of High Point Hanoverians, and Mo Swanson of Rolling Stone Farm. The breed show that consisted of in-hand classes as well as under-saddle German Riding Horse Tests went very well. Champions were named by the judging committee that flew over from Germany.

The mare performance test was the start of titles being given to Oldenburg registered mares in North America. The highest award is the “Special Premium” title—the equivalent of the States Premium title given in Germany. Following that is Verband’s Premium based on the scores from the performance test and the judgment of the committee.

Because of the success and importance of this first event, two have been scheduled for 2009. The East Coast Oldenburg Show and MPT will be held again at High Point Hanoverians on September 11-13. The West Coast Oldenburg Show and MPT will be held at Pollyrich Farm in Solvang, CA, on September 15-16.
