After a second-place finish on Thursday in the grand prix, Catherine Haddad and Cadillac rose to the occasion on Friday with a win in the grand prix special at the Vidauban CDI*** in France. This marked the sixth grand prix win for Haddad and her 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood this year. The annual show at Vidauban, which has traditionally been a jumping show, added international dressage to the schedule this year, and the competition did not disappoint. Taking place over three days, the competition drew riders from several countries to compete for top-place honors in the Prix St. Georges through grand prix levels. With a score of 70.6%, Haddad and Cadillac beat out Thursday’s grand prix winner, Marc Boblet and his Olympic partner Whitni Star; Kebie Van Der Heijden and Toy Story finished third.
Haddad, a German-based American rider will now move on to represent the U.S. along with Steffen Peters at the CHIO Aachen CDIO*****/CDI****, June 30–July 5.
