The FEI is pleased to announce that Trond Asmyr has joined the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) as FEI Dressage and Para-Equestrian Dressage Director.

Originally from Norway, Asmyr has an in-depth knowledge of dressage as a rider, official and administrator. He rode competitively on national level for many years, is an FEI international dressage judge and was for 12 years on the board of the Norwegian Equestrian Federation. He was the Federation’s vice president for six years, from 2003 to earlier this year.
Moreover, Asmyr has a long experience with the business world in which he has held various managing positions.

"I am delighted to join the FEI staff and family," said Asmyr. "This will be the first time I combine work with my lifelong passion for equestrian sport. It is a very exciting time for both dressage and para-equestrian dressage. Dressage is in an important transition period, and we will all work to ensure the best possible conditions for all involved. We have fantastic riders in this sport and developing strong relationships with them will be a priority. I worked on the integration of para-equestrian dressage on a national level, and I am looking forward to finalizing this process within the FEI. The para dressage community is highly professional, which will make my position all the more interesting.”

David Holmes, FEI Executive Director, Sports, added, “We are delighted to welcome Trond to the FEI. He comes onboard at a moment when dressage is undergoing crucial changes. The good understanding he has of both the sports and corporate worlds is very valuable for the organization and will clearly be an asset in the future management of the discipline. Having also served as a volunteer within the Norwegian National Federation, Trond has a good understanding of the needs of NFs who are FEI’s most important stakeholders.”
