The second Kentucky International Equine Summit (KIES), sponsored by the Equine Industry Program at the University of Louisville in cooperation with the University of Kentucky’s Equine Initiative, will be held Monday and Tuesday, April 26 and 27, 2010, in downtown Lexington, KY.

The inaugural Summit held in April of 2008 featured more than 90 speakers and panelists from around the world discussing industry economics, horse welfare, and genetics and breeding. Program subjects for 2010 include economic structure and strategy issues for the industry, association management and leadership, post-secondary equine education, and scientific animal care.

The biennial Summit is intended to provide a forum for disparate segments of the equine industry to come together with scientific input to analyze and discover practical solutions to major challenges facing the industry. The intended audience is industry leaders, which are defined as officers, directors or committee members of national, regional or state registries and associations.

The entire program of the 2008 Kentucky International Equine Summit may be viewed at no charge online via H-SPAN, recently launched by HorseTV to provide meaningful programming to a worldwide equestrian audience. Twenty-four panels of experts are available on H-SPAN at www.horsetv.com.

The dates of the Summit are strategically situated on the sporting calendar between the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park and the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby at world-famous Churchill Downs in Louisville. More information will be posted at www.kyequinesummit.com as it becomes available, or those interested can contact the Equine Industry Program at the University of Louisville.
