Competition Licensing Weekly News Bulletins Start Today

by By USEF | Apr 14, 2005, 10:56 AM

Through the week of May 1, 2005, the USEF will be sending weekly e-mails to competition management contacts containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and updates regarding the new competition licensing procedure. The information contained in these e-mails will also be available in the USEF Week In Review. After May 1, 2005, the updates will continue in the Week In Review only. If you would like to sign up for the Week In Review, go to www.usef.org and click on the “Sign Up Now” banner on the right-hand side of the homepage to sign up. The updates will also be archived on the USEF website under the Competition Licensing News banner also on the right-hand side of the homepage.

A copy of the license application for new competitions starting between 12/1/05 and 11/30/06 is available in the Forms & Pubs section on the USEF website (see the menu list on the left-hand side of the homepage.) If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the USEF Competitions Department at (859) 258-2472 or email to [email protected].

This Week’s FAQs
Q: What is required when submitting my application?

A: Complete license applications must be submitted with appropriate fees. A complete license application includes:

• A completed Licensee Registration form signed by the licensee or, if the licensee is not an individual, an individual who is authorized by the licensee to legally bind the licensee to its terms.
• Street address of the facility where the competition will be held, including city, state, and zip code.
• A complete license application signed by the licensee or, if the licensee is not an individual, an individual who is authorized by the licensee to legally bind the licensee to its terms.
• Complete payment for the 2006 competition year's fees as listed on the application.

If USEF receives an incomplete application, the licensee will receive notice and the received date of the application will be the date that the complete application requirements are fulfilled.

Q: How do I change a date or location of a licensed competition?
A: The rules relating to changes of date or location have not changed. You may submit your request, pay the relevant fee and if the date or location is available (i.e. no mileage conflict exists) it may be approved.

You should note that the recognized 2005 competitions in existence on or before May 15, 2005, may receive a three-year license, if requested by May 15, 2005. This will provide the 2005 competitions in existence on or before May 15, 2005, with a license to hold competitions on the comparable dates and at the same location in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 competition years.

The above provision for consideration of existing competitions was approved in January to provide for a smooth transition from an existing "recognized" competition to a "Licensed" competition.

Q: Can I use the renewal or new application to apply for dates beyond and not including the 2006 competition year?
A: No. All renewal and new applications must include a request for a date to be held during the 2006 competition year (Dec. 1, 2005-Nov. 30, 2006). USEF will accept applications for the 2007 competition year (competitions held Dec. 1, 2006-Nov. 30, 2007) beginning on March 1, 2006 and applications for the 2008 competition year (competitions held Dec. 1, 2007-Nov. 30, 2008) beginning on March 1, 2007. ~~~
