American Saddlebred Registry Officers Named; ASHA Board Vacancy Filled

by By Reeves Kirtner, ASHA | Apr 15, 2005, 9:13 AM

The American Saddlebred Registry Board of Directors elected its officers for the nine-member board at its first meeting April 5. Fred Sarver will serve as president, Joan Hamilton as vice president, Sandra Lilly as secretary and David Howard as treasurer. The terms will end in February 2006.

Sarver, Lilly and Howard all serve the same positions for the American Saddlebred Horse Association. Alan F. Balch, ASHA executive secretary, said the board saw the need to have similar leadership with ASHA in the Registry’s first year. Balch said a consensus of the directors felt it might be desirable in the future for some or all of the elected Registry officers to differ from those of the Association’s leadership.

In a separate election, the ASHA Board of Directors elected Nelson Green, of Nicholasville, KY, to fill the vacancy of a previously elected director who resigned in December 2004. Green will fill the term expiring in 2006. Green, 59, is an accomplished Saddlebred judge and operates a public training stable. He is a former member of the United States Equestrian Federation Saddlebred Committee, as well as a current member of the Kentucky State Fair Advisory Committee and Lexington Junior League Horse Show Advisory Committee. Green is also a founding member of the United Professional Horsemen’s Association. He was inducted into the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Hall of Fame in 2004.~~~
