The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center recently hosted a Yearling Sale Preview Party for Central Florida Community College’s (CFCC) Horseman’s Society, a student equine club. Students from the club organized the fundraiser at The Sanctuary, which featured the presentation of two yearling prospects to buyers as well as a silent auction.

“The students from CFCC were in charge of the Yearling Sale Preview Party and they did a fabulous job of hosting it at our facility,” said Brenda McDuffee, General Manager of The Sanctuary in Ocala. “The yearlings that were presented were part of their pinhooking project and the students have been bringing them to The Sanctuary for swimming and to use our Eurociser. We were pleased to support their efforts and really glad that the evening turned out to be such a success.”

Students in the Horseman’s Society have been preparing a colt and a filly for the auction at the Ocala Breeder’s Sale and proceeds from the sale of the yearlings will be used for scholarships for students to attend CFCC. “The students incorporated services at The Sanctuary into the care of the colt and filly during their project. In addition to using our pool and Eurociser, they were responsible for the feeding and grooming program for the horses,” McDuffee said.

The CFCC yearlings were treated to one of the most comprehensive facilities of its kind in the world while at The Sanctuary. The Sanctuary, which is committed to the healing, conditioning and well-being of all equine athletes, features advanced conditioning and rehab equipment, including an Equine Hyperbaric Chamber with box stall-type freedom of movement, as well as an Aqua Pacer Water Treadmill, the safest, most effective water treadmill available. The center also features: a Cold Saltwater Leg Spa featuring 34 degree, highly salinated water for all types of leg therapy; an Equine Swimming Pool—a 110-foot long, 14-foot deep inline pool with therapeutic water; a 5/8-mile race track; two Eurocisers with therapeutic tracking surface—one under cover and one outdoors; solariums; temperature-controlled veterinary inspection area with semi-surgical lighting, and rubberized surfaces in most areas.

“The CFCC students did a first-rate job of planning the evening, from the decorating to the silent auction. The Sanctuary made a donation to the silent auction as we are very supportive of the CFCC program,” McDuffee said.
