U.S. eventing legend Jim Wofford will be on hand at the United States Eventing Association (USEA) booth to sign the newly reprinted copies of his book, Training the Three-Day Event Horse and Rider. The signing will take place at noon on Friday, April 29.
Wofford was a key member of the U.S. Equestrian Team’s eventing squad for two decades, including three Olympic teams, winning two team Silver medals. He also won four national championships and earned two world championships bronze medals.
The book covers everything from the history of the sport, finding a suitable horse and equipment, each of the three disciplines and conditioning. It went out of print not too long ago, and after the publishers realized that eventers from all over were scouring eBay for copies, they decided a reprint was in order. It has been a rare U.S. international three-day event team that has not included at least one rider who got there by following the methods outlined in this book, and quite a few of the competitors at this year’s four-star have ridden under Wofford's tutelage at some point during their careers.
For those that cannot attend the event, books can be ordered from the USEA Membership Department at (703) 779-0440 ext. 3012, and will soon be available from the USEA’s online store at www.useventing.com.
