by By Jennifer Mellenkamp | Nov 12, 2009, 12:53 PM

The third annual 2010 EQUUS Foundation/United States Equestrian Federation Youth Convention will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Louisville Marriott Downtown, in Louisville, KY. The convention unites youth from around the country and helps to nurture and develop a growing interest in equestrian sport. As in prior years, this will be held in conjunction with the USEF Annual Meeting, allowing our youth the valuable experiences of watching and learning from some of the great traditions of the Annual Meeting.

This all-day event will include a Star Power Panel of top athletes from USEF-recognized breeds and disciplines who will speak with youth about their experiences, backgrounds and enthusiasm for the horse, as well as answer questions. Experts in the equine industry will also be brought in to conduct breakout sessions regarding horse health; vaulting basics; interscholastic riding programs; college and career planning; affiliate youth programs; and a special session for parents, covering the basics of purchasing a first horse and competing. At the end of the day, attendees are invited to the Pegasus Reception and Awards Dinner, followed by a youth dance.

Colleges, equestrian teams and USEF Recognized Affiliates will have the opportunity to purchase display tables just outside of the convention room. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit these groups during breaks and before and after sessions.

Registrations must be received by the USEF office prior to November 15, 2009 to receive a discounted rate. Youth Convention registration and sponsorship and trade fair materials can be found on the USEF website at www.usef.org/_IFrames/Youth/youthConvention.aspx.
