The 2009 Cinch® National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Non Pro Futurity Finals were the featured competition on Friday at the NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show in Oklahoma City, OK. Nearly two dozen countries have been competing at the show over the past nine days with nine riders from four countries advancing to the $120,000 added Cinch/NRHA Non Pro Futurity Finals.

In draw two in the second section of the Non Pro finals, reigning champion and NRHA’s first Non Pro and woman Million Dollar Rider Mandy McCutcheon jumped in front of the pack with a 219 on West Coast Mizzen. However, Matthew Armenta of Whitesboro, TX, and Sparklin Chic came to the show hunting for the win. The pair marked a 219 to tie. In a dramatic run-off, McCutcheon and her mount put in the final effort to take the win and her sixth Non Pro Futurity Championship. The win ties her with NRHA Hall of Famer Bob Loomis for the most NRHA Futurity titles. Mandy and her husband, Tom, own the West Coast Whiz mare and reside in Aubrey, TX.

Jana Simons and A Gal With A Gun debuted in their first ever NRHA Futurity and have already been awarded with the First Time Non Pro award based on their performance in the go round. In the finals, Simons continued with her winning ways marking a 218.5 for third in the Level 4 Open and the first in the Level 3 Intermediate Non Pro, Level 2 Limited Non Pro and Level 1 Non Pro Futurity divisions. Her winnings totaled in excess of $50,000.

Jordan Donnelly dominated the Adequan Championship arena by piloting her gelding Chexable to a score of 218 and championships in both the NAAC Youth 14-18 and ancillary Youth 14-18 classes. She represented the South Central Region. Jordan Willette, riding for the Southwest region, rode Whizin In The Dirt to reserve championship titles in both classes while capturing the win in Unrestricted Youth.
