Registrations are still being accepted for the EQUUS Foundation/United States Equestrian Federation Youth Convention scheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, KY. The convention unites youth from around the country and helps to nurture and develop a growing interest in equestrian sport.

This all-day event will include a Star Power Panel of top athletes from USEF-recognized breeds and disciplines who will speak with the youth about their experiences, backgrounds and enthusiasm for the horse, as well as answer questions.

Individuals serving on this year’s Star Power Panel include: Bruce Griffin (Friesian/Sport Horse In-Hand), Gina Miles (Eventing), Cindy Mugnier (Morgan), Martha Murdock (National Show Horse) and Jimmy Robertson (Hackney/Roadster).

Experts in the equine industry will also be brought in to conduct breakout sessions regarding a pre-purchase examination and an overview of the veterinary coverage at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games; vaulting basics; interscholastic riding programs; college and career planning; affiliate youth programs; and a special session for parents, covering the basics of purchasing a first horse and competing.

Colleges, equestrian teams and USEF-recognized affiliates will have the opportunity to purchase display tables just outside of the convention room. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit these groups during breaks and before and after sessions. At the end of the day, attendees are invited to the Pegasus Awards Reception and Dinner, followed by a youth dance.

The Humane Society of the United States will be the presenting sponsor of the 2010 EQUUS Foundation/USEF Youth Convention. Established in 1954, the Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest animal protection organization.

Youth Convention registration, sponsorship and trade fair materials can be found on the USEF website at www.usef.org.
