National Reining Horse Association/Markel Insurance Sales Results

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and Markel Insurance once again hosted three sales during the 2009 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show in Oklahoma City. The top seller from all three sales was Mister Montana Nic (Reminic x Mollie Montana, by Montana Doc), an eleven-year-old stallion consigned by Craig Schmersal for Montana Nic Syndicate. Ericka Alcorn of Gardner, KS, bought the NRHA money earner of $121,000 in the NRHA/Markel Insurance Marketplace Sale for $125,000. The Marketplace Sale grossed $892,200 on 134 horses that sold for an average of $6,658. Five horses in the sale brought $20,000 or more.

The NRHA/Markel Insurance Futurity Prospect Sale saw strong bidding with 51 head that sold for a total of $1,178,300 and an average of $23,104. The high seller was Snappin Mesa Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Snappin Mackie by Snapper Cal Bar) consigned by Bob Loomis and purchased by Loren Booth of Orange Grove, CA. The gavel fell at $102,000 for the two-year-old. Two horses, Quistador (Conquistador Whiz x Miss N Becky, by Okie Paul Quixote) and Baja Hollywood Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Hollywood Stunt Girl, by Hollywood Dun It) brought $100,000 each.

The NRHA/Markel Insurance Breeders Showcase Select Sale sold 89 horses for a total of $765,000 and an average of $8,956. The high seller was FM Master Spook (Smart Spook x Colonel Mistress, by Great Master Wake) who went to Tish Fappani of San Marcos, CA, for $41,000. Lorenzo Lotti was the agent for Fausto Mattioli. A total of nine horses brought $20,000 or more in the Breeders Showcase Select Sale.
