Two of Iron Spring Farm's flagship stallions, Meinse 439 and UB40, began the 2010 show season with big wins. Meinse 439 claimed the Second Level Reserve Championship and High Score Non-Warmblood at Ocala Winter Dressage. The six-year-old KFPS stallion followed that up with wins in both of his Second Level classes at American Dressage Concours with scores to 70.714%. UB40 also impressed. The nine-year-old KWPN stallion won all of his classes, receiving marks as high as 73.72%, along with the Fourth Level Championship, Third Level Reserve Championship and the High Score KWPN award at Ocala Winter Dressage.

"This was a great way to kick off the show season," said Mary Alice Malone, owner of Iron Spring Farm and rider of Meinse. Last year the pair was the GAIG/USDF Region 1 Training Level Adult Amateur Champions, as well as Reserve Champions at First Level.

UB40 is another stallion that has progressed from his early success at the KWPN stallion licensing and the FEI Young Horse tests. Last year the stallion, by Olivi out of a Michelangelo mare, was winning at third and fourth level with scores up to 70%.

Although still a young stallion, UB40 is already proving to be a prolific sire. His son, the Approved stallion Apache, won the L-level division at the KWPN Stallion Competition in Deurne, The Netherlands, in January. UB40's daughter Breolita was Reserve Champion at the 2009 KWPN Mare Championships in The Netherlands. Three of his offspring earned KWPN-NA 2009 Top Five Awards. In addition, 13 of his sons and daughters in the U.S.A. were awarded First Premium status. His offspring have claimed numerous tri-color and blue ribbons at prestigious breed shows such as Dressage at Devon and the GAIG/USDF Breeders Championships. "Since his first foal crop, UB40 has produced quality youngsters," Malone stated. "They are starting to excel under saddle and we are really looking forward to seeing how they mature."

UB40's stablemate, Sir Sinclair, also has offspring that continue to impress. Warina, owned and ridden by Fran Marino, and Zefier, owned by INSPO and ridden by Anna Marek, brought home blue ribbons in Ocala. Warina was victorious at third level, while Zefier won four second level classes and the Second Level Championship. Malone continued, "Sir's offspring inherit their father's incredible temperament and look just like their dad." Sir Sinclair has won the Get of Sire class for four consecutive years at Dressage at Devon, had seven horses awarded 2009 KWPN-NA Top Five awards, and has numerous offspring competing at the Markel/USEF National Young Horse Dressage Championships.

The younger Iron Spring Farm stallions weren't the only ones grabbing the headlines. Consul's son, Critical Decision, bred by Judy Reggio, and ridden by Missy Ransehousen, was Third Level Champion and Fourth Level Reserve Champion. Although clearly a winner in dressage, Critical Decision is best known as Ransehousen's international event partner. The pair finished third at the 2008 Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event**** and have completed Burghley****, among other prestigious events.

Other recent Iron Spring Farm winners include Teade's daughter, Paradise ISF. The mare won First Level classes at both Ocala Winter Dressage and American Concours with scores as high as 72%. Another Friesian, Tsjesse fan it Beielan, showcased the breed's talent for the FEI levels by winning the Intermediaire I class in Ocala with a score of 71.84%, which earned the gelding the FEI Championship. Rounding out the Iron Spring victors was the Flemmingh son Santos Utopia, who won at Grand Prix with scores to 70.70% during Ocala Winter Dressage.
