The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) is pleased to announce the following AMHA members who received honors at its annual awards luncheon, which took place on February 20, in Lexington, KY.
A Master's Certificate is given to individuals older than 60 years of age who have been active with Morgan horses in a variety of ways. Recognized clubs nominate members based on their involvement in breeding, showing, training, promoting, or just generally enjoying their Morgan horses. Congratulations to all.
Receiving a 2009 Master's Certificate were:
— Robert and Anita Hoynoski from the Connecticut Morgan Horse Club
— Roberta Marshall and Pat Ross from the New York Morgan Horse Society
— Albert Zinz from the Penn Ohio Morgan Horse Association
— Gary Wallace from the Iowa Morgan Horse Association
— Barb Rudicel from the Indiana Morgan Horse Club
— Gail Kelce and Shirley Orlando from the Midstates Morgan Horse Club
— Gary Raymond from the Lippitt Morgan Breeders Association
The AMHA Promoter Award recognizes club members who are diligent supporters of the Morgan breed, working hard to bring the Morgan horse into public arenas. Recipients of the Promoter Award actively promote the breed at fairs, parades, open barns, equine expos, and through many other activities.

2009 AMHA Club of the Year Announced
California's Sacramento Valley Morgan Horse Club (SVMHC) took top honors as the 2009 AMHA Club of the Year. The announcement was made at AMHA's annual awards luncheon, which took place February 20.
Nominated clubs are judged on their yearbooks that detail the club's activities throughout the year in eight categories. SVMHC had nearly perfect scores in many of the categories and their club stood out with their fundraising and breed promotion. A prize of $600 was awarded for their win.
Earning second-place honors was the Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club, centrally located in Illinois. The club's easily organized notebook chronicled the year in the life of this club with accompanying photographs from every event and activity. The club was given $400 as their prize.
Third place and a prize of $300 went to the North Central Morgan Association (NCMA), based in Minnesota. The judges were impressed with their civic and non-horse show activities, as well as the presentation of their notebook.
