Get The Winning Edge - Olympic Gold Medalist Will Simpson Clinic on Jump-Offs on Tuesday, March 9

by Jennifer Wood Media, Inc. | Mar 4, 2010, 12:00 PM

Olympic Gold medalist Will Simpson will be giving a clinic on jump-offs on Tuesday, March 9, at 3:30 p.m. Take this advantage to learn from one of the greatest riders the strategies to get the clear round in the least amount of time. The cost of the clinic is $100, and auditors are welcome for free. The clinic will be held in the International Arena.

Simpson has been active on the Grand Prix circuit in California for almost two decades, highlights include wining six Grand Prix events (on both sides of the country) during the 2001-2002 season with El Campeons Ado Annie, winning a leg of the 2000 Olympic Selection Trials and a leg of the 2003 Trials for the Pan American Games. He won a Grand Prix at the prestigious Spruce Meadows Masters in Calgary with El Campeon's Tosca in 2006.

With Carlsson vom Dach, the winning began to snowball in 2007. The pair won the Grand Prix at the Los Angeles National after winning the $50,000 International Grand Prix in November and then kicked off 2008 with a string of dynamite performances at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida.

Will Simpson and El Campeon's Carlsson vom Dach jumped into the Olympic scene with an impressive string of performances at the 2008 USEF Selection Trials for Show Jumping. The pair jumped three clear rounds out of the four they contested, winning the $100,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier and Zada Enterprises, LLC, Masters Cup and the WEF Challenge Cup in the process. Simpson made the trip from his base in Thousand Oaks, CA, to Wellington, FL, worth the effort.

Simpson was then selected to represent the U.S. at the Olympic Games with Carlsson vom Dach. He and the rest of his American teammates left Hong Kong the winners of the Team Gold medal.

Simpson has two kids, Sophie and Ty, and is married to fellow international rider Nicole Shahinian-Simpson.
