Held at the Georgia International Horse Park, home of the 1996 Olympics, in Conyers, GA, the 2010 Atlanta Spring Classics has use of a facility that has 700 permanent stalls and boasts some of the best ring footing in the country. This year’s two-week event runs March 24-April 3 with classes running Wednesday through Sunday on Week One and a special Easter schedule of Tuesday through Saturday for Week Two. “We’ve reworked the scheduling of events to accommodate both exhibitors who show on the weekend only and those wishing to enjoy Easter with their families.” Bell explained. Among some of the schedule changes is the use of Wednesday solely for Hunter Pony Breeding Classes with regular hunter-jumper classes beginning on Thursday, and for Atlanta Spring’s second week Tuesday will be the Hunter Pony Breeding day while Wednesday through Saturday will host the hunter-jumper performances.

Both weeks of the Atlanta Spring Classics are USEF AA-rated hunters and three-star rated jumpers, plus host a $25,000 Show Jumping Grand Prix each weekend and on Week Two a $7,500 Children-Adult Jumper Classic. Along with the traditional classes of both disciplines, the Spring Classics will embrace the new USEF Opportunity Classes. These special classes were devised for all riders in various stages of lesson plans to be able to accompany their barn mates and experience the same level of professionalism of the A and AA rated shows, judges, and jumps as a means to growth for both rider and horse. Opportunity riders are not required to be members of USEF and classes are made affordable. “I believe the Opportunity classes are a wonderful addition to our shows. It’s a great way for our beginner riders to come enjoy the shows as an exhibitor and not just the barn cheerleader. These riders will be able to learn so much from the classes,” Bell said.
