Eventing
Eventing competition took place on both coasts this weekend. On the East coast the Fair Hill International CIC*/** got under way in Elkton, MD. Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda won top honors in the CIC2*, Claire Kelley and Clifton Peekachu won the CIC1*.

In Paso Robles, CA the Twin Rivers Spring Three-Day Event and Horse Trials featured all levels of competition. Alexandra Slusher and Last Call easily took home the win in the CIC3*, Mackenna Shea and Landioso won the CIC2* and Kristi Walker and Myelusivedream were first in the CIC1*.

This week in Lexington, KY riders representing eight countries will compete in the prestigious Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Bridgestone. The Kentucky Cup Test Events for Jumping and Dressage are also taking place meaning this weekend is a great preview of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Jumping
Ten US riders spent the week in Geneva, Switzerland at the Rolex/FEI World Cup Final. Mario Desluaruiers led the way with Urico, after going to the lead after the second leg. Jane Clark's Urico belied his years, and the nine-year-old ended up sixth. California's Richard Spooner won the third and final leg which moved him up to seventh overall with Show Jumping Syndications' Cristallo. One of the highlights of the week was the fact that two American grooms Earl Brown, who looks after Urico and Tony Camerena who has Richard Spooner's Cristallo in his care, won the Grooms' Award and were recognized for their outstanding dedication and work for these horses.

Reining
Two Selection Trial Qualifiers for the 2010 World Equestrian Games Reining Team Selection Trials took place at the National Reiners Breeding Classic in Katy, TX. In the CRI2* the top three finishers were all separated by only half a point, Matthew Noel Palmer and Whale of a Whiz took home the win with a score of 224. Jordan Larson and Make It With a Twist were second, and Craig Schmersal and Mist Montana Nic were third. On Sunday in the CRI1* Matthew Mills and Big League Yankee were the top placed U.S. combination, finishing third behind Austrian Martin Muehlstaetter who took first and second.
