This Week in International Disciplines

Dressage

It was Dressage Week in San Diego, CA as part of the Del Mar National Horse Show. The Del Mar National CDI3* featured some of the top riders on the West coast including Steffen Peters who dominated both the Grand Prix and Intermediaire-I. Aboard Akiko Yamazaki's superstar Ravel, Peters won the Grand Prix and put in a near flawless effort in the Grand Prix Freestyle to win by 10 points with a score of 81.300%. Susan Blinks and Robin Hood were first in the Grand Prix Special with a score of 69.708%.

On the small tour Peters presented both Weltino's Magic and Pallas, who finished first and second respectively in the Prix St. Georges. In the Intermediaire-I it was Pallas' turn to take home the blue ribbon with a score of 69.123%. Cyndi Jackson and Strauss were the Intermediaire-I Freestyle winners.

Endurance

On Sunday at the beautiful Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC the Biltmore Challenge CEI took place. In the 160km distance, Samantha Sandler and Elliptic had the fastest finish in 11:31:09. She was followed closely by Deborah Reich, riding DJB Juniper.

Nicki Young Meuten riding Not Tonight was first in the 120km with a time of 8:10:40, followed by Dessia Miller of Canada riding Parker AES. In the 80km distance Sarah Jack, riding Shyrocco Troilus was first.

Jumping

US riders campaigning in Europe had a successful week. In France at the CSI3*Maubeuge, Laura Kraut and Cedric, who are ranked second on the Show Jumping Long List for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, were third in the CSI3* 1.50m class.

At the CSI3* San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy Peter Wylde and Sanctos Van Het Gracenhof were third in the 1.45m class. Wylde was also sixth in the 1.40m with Valencia.
