Eventing

It was a smooth weekend at the Jersey Fresh CCI3*, CCI2* and CIC3* all held concurrently at the Horse Park of New Jersey. Tiana Coudray guided her distinctive grey gelding Ringwood Magister to a convincing win in the CCI3* with a final score of 45.6. Coudray led after dressage by a huge margin of 16.8 points. She then rode carefully on the cross country and picked up just 4.8 time penalties, meaning she went into the show jumping phase with four rails in hand. One rail down ensured she kept the top spot. Phillip Dutton was second aboard Jan Byyny's Inmidair and Colin Davidson and Draco were third.

Phillip Dutton topped his result in the CCI3* with a win aboard Truluck in the CIC3*. Dutton led throughout all three phases, turning in the fastest time of the day in cross country, he finished with a score of 65.4. Behind him was his student Peter Barry of Canada and Kilrodan Abbott. Ashley Kehoe and Mazetto in third.

Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda finished on their dressage score of 44.3 to win the CCI2*. Cambalda also won the best conditioned horse award. Local New Jersey rider, Doug Payne was second on Happy Valley and Canadian Young Rider Joelle Baskerville and Malibu were third. Youth prevailed in the CCI2* as all three riders are under the age of 30.

Jumping

The Grand Prix of Spain in Valencia kicked off the first stop on the Global Champions Tour. The Grand Prix takes place in one of the most stunning show jumping venues, the City of Arts and Sciences, where competition takes place in the area surrounding the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum in which the man-made lake is transformed into an arena. There were 50 riders in the CSI5* classes from 18 different nations, Richard Spooner and Pako were third in the 1.45m English Cut Trophy class. Lauren Hough took a third with Prezioso S in the 1.45m Iberia Trophy class, and was also third with Casadora in the 1.50m Massimo Dutti Trophy class.

Riding in the CSI2* was Kelsey Thatcher who picked up a fourth in the 1.30m Equestrian Magazine Trophy class and a sixth in the 1.25m RTVV Trophy class with Milous De Fontaine.

The Del Mar National Horse Show wrapped up its three weeks of competition with Hunter/Jumper Week. Rich Fellers made an impressive showing all weekend, with the Irish bred stallion, Flexible, he took home wins in both the $25,000 Surfside Grand Prix and the $100,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar. It was Fellers fourth win in six years in the Grand Prix of Del Mar.

Vaulting

In Herndon, VA, the Great Falls Vaulters and Topaz Vaulters Spring Fest got under way. This event was a rare opportunity for East Coast vaulters to compete on their own turf as the majority of US vaulting hails from California. In the Gold Women's Individual, Cassidy Palmer took home the blue ribbon with an overall score of 7.745, beating out second place finisher Elizabeth Brigham who finished with a 7.364. Annie Young won the Silver Women's Individual division and Audrey Sims was triumphant in the Bronze Individual division.
