2010 Flintfields Horse Park Facility Improvements Include Footing Upgrade

by By Phelps Media Group | May 14, 2010, 10:06 AM

Flintfields Horse Park, home of the Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival, is proud to announce that new fiber footing is being installed this spring in the Grand Prix Ring, R.L. Polk Main Hunter Ring, and their respective schooling areas. GGT Footing™ and Footing First will be providing the state-of-the-art geo textiles for the project with Dean Rheinheimer and Karen Leeming overseeing the installation. Footing that stays safe and consistent throughout the course of the competition is very important to management and Flintfields Horse Park owner, Karin Flint.

GGT Footing™, a division of Polysols, is best known for their production of a 100% polyester fabric and fiber-based lofting agent, which has been used successfully in Europe for over 15 years. This high-performing additive, which will insure greater cushion and stability, also gives more resilience, reduces the amount of packing, and helps to hold moisture in the surface, which leads to reduced dust. Based out of Spartanburg, SC, GGT Footing™ has several different blends to suit specific needs including jumping, dressage and Western arenas, and racetracks.

GGT Footing™ is one of the many textiles used by Footing First partner Karen Leeming and it is with her confidence that the chosen blend will be "just what Fintfields needs to improve upon an already fabulous facility." Footing First's most recent project includes the installation of a new outdoor ring at the legendary Fairfield Hunt Club. Past clients include Derbydown Farm, Heritage Farm, Spy Coast Farm, Beacon Hill, Syracuse, and Hunterdon.

Additional upgrades include tent pad grading and drainage work, the installation of a new irrigation well and a new show office.

The Horse Shows by the Bay Equestrian Festival starts on July 8 with Dressage by the Bay and then continues for three additional weeks with Horse Shows by the Bay Series I, II and III. The Great American Insurance Group/Region 2 Dressage Championships and Dressage by the Bay Fall Classic will be the finale event of the season and will take place on September 9-12.
