In light of recent confusion about the intent of the USHJA National Hunter Classics (HU189), the USEF Executive Committee approved a clarification submitted by the United States Hunter Jumper Association during a call on May 17, 2010. The new language clarifies these classes are intended to give Zone points and not National Horse of the Year points. The verbiage has been clarified as follows:

HU189.4
Zone bonus points will be awarded to each horse’s respective hunter section as declared at time of entry. Points accrued by horses shown by Juniors or Amateurs will be awarded to the applicable Childrens, Junior, Adult Amateur or Amateur section. National points will not be awarded. Zone points will be awarded as follows, 1st -100, 2nd-80, 3rd-70, 4th-60, 5th-50, 6th-40, 7th-30 and 8th-20.
