Dressage
At the Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, IL, the Lamplight Dressage CDI3* took place. Joe Sandven and his Hanoverian gelding Rachmaninoff were first in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. On the small tour Kassandra Barteau dominated, finishing first and third in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I with Toscano and GP Delano respectively. With Toscano, she was also won the Intermediaire I Freestyle with a score of 69.950%.

Jumping
Show Jumping competition was in full swing on both sides of the Atlantic this week. The European summer tour continued for U.S. riders at the International Horse Show Italia in Turin, Italy, which hosted the third leg of the Global Champions Tour. Lauren Hough guided Prezioso S to a third-place finish in the 1.45m Premio Publitalia. Kelsey Thatcher had an accomplished week in the CSI2*. Aboard Klotaire du Moulin, she won the 1.25m Premio Parco Regionale la Mandria and was third in the Premio Comune di Torino. Thatcher also won the 1.25m Premio Fuse with Selle Francais stallion Milous De Fontaine.

Back in the U.S. competition heated up at the Kentucky Spring Classic on Saturday evening as the $55,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix got under way. Ten riders jumped clear and returned for the jump-off after the first round. It was a jump-off for the record books when both Todd Minikus aboard Pavarotti and Cara Raether aboard Ublesco blazed over the short course to stop the clock at 35.24, earning both riders top-place honors. Raether then topped off two weeks of competition in Kentucky with a win in the $20,000 Bluegrass Classic with Lyonell.
On the final day of competition at the Old Salem Spring Horse Show, the $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix took place. Of the 33 starting riders, only three managed to go clear over the Michel Vaillancourt course. Returning for the jump-off was David Tromp, Kate Levy and Georgina Bloomberg. Going last, Bloomberg aboard Gotham Enterprizes’ Metropolitan only needed to go clear to take the win, and they did just that. Levy finished second and Tromp was third.
