Driving

US Drivers with the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games on the brain competed at the CAI-B Garden State CDE at the Horse Park of New Jersey. Chester Weber and his Four-in-Hand team notched yet another win, finishing with 116.64 penalties. Josh Rector was second and Bill Long rounded out the top three.

In the Single Horse division, Kim Stover and her Connemara/Thoroughbred cross Laughlin finished on 113.33 for the win. Scott Monroe was second. The US will send a Singles squad to the World Championships in July.

Jumping

Competing on both sides of the Atlantic, US show jumpers took home multiple top honors this week.

At the CSIO Schweiz in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Hillary Dobbs started the week out winning, taking home the blue ribbon in the first class of competition on Friday with Marengo, she repeated the effort in the second class with Corlett. On Saturday McLain Ward and rising star Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve won the 1.45m class. In Sunday's Longines Grand Prix both Richard Spooner and Mario Deslauriers advanced to the second round where they finished 10th and 12th respectively.

In Langley, British Columbia the Thunderbird Show Park British Columbia Open CSI2* took place. Rich Fellers and Flexible had great success, winning the $30,000 Thunderbird Show Park Spring Classic as well as the $55,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier. Ashlee Bond finished second behind Fellers in the Spring Classic with Chivas Z and took third and fourth with Chivas Z and Cadett 7 respectively in the FEI World Cup Qualifier.

The Young Riders representing the US on the US Show Jumping Young Riders tour had a phenomenal week in the Netherlands at the CSIOY Wierden. The team kicked off a week of triumphs sweeping the Young Rider classes on Wednesday; Jennifer Waxman aboard Shakira won the 1.35m small tour class while Nick Dello Joio and Malcolm took top honors in the 1.50m big tour. Friday, the team fought hard through two rounds of the Nations Cup to force a jump-off with the home team and eventually outran the Netherlands for their first Nations Cup win. The squad of Waxman and Venturo, Michael Murphy and Katina 12, Dello Joio with Malcolm and Karl Cook on Uno de Laubry recovered from a 17 fault performance in the first round to add just four in the second round. Waxman and Shakira capped off the week with another win on the small tour on Sunday.

Vaulting

On the West Coast in Menlo Park, CA vaulters participated in the Woodside Vaulters Spring Fest. The event served as a selection trial for teams hoping to represent the US at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Performing their Romeo and Juliet inspired routine; the FACE team took home their second selection trial win with an outstanding score of 8.272. The FACE team is coached by Devon Maitozo and consists of Rosalind Ross, Mary Garrett, Mari Inouye, Annalise VanVranken, Emily Hogye, Sarah d'Auriol and Karly Frankel-Newman along with team horse Palatine. The Woodside Vaulters finished second, Showtime Vaulters were third.

In the Woman's Gold Individual Mary McCormick demonstrated her fluid style and long lines, winning with a score of 8.699. Alicen Divita wasn't far behind with 8.496 to finish second; Megan Benjamin was third on 8.321.

Maitozo took a commanding win in the Men's Gold Individual with a score of 8.426. Kenny Geisler was second with a 7.437, Patrick Stevens was third with a 7.138.
