Lexington, KY – Most of you are familiar with the power-packed double whammy of successful promotion: Marketing and Media. We need them both to effectively promote the excitement of equestrian to the public, and together, we can create a network of support to make sure it happens.
If you have news, competition press releases, organizational notes, or human-interest story ideas, please take a few moments to share them with the United States Equestrian Federation. From grassroots levels to the Olympic Games, equestrian sport is far-reaching. So far-reaching that we’ll need to work together to make sure major news doesn’t slip through the media’s radar.
With 27 breeds and disciplines, dozens of championships and more than 2,800 recognized competitions each year, it is physically impossible for our staff to attend or write press releases for each and every newsworthy event. To share this news, we depend on organizers, public relations firms, and hard-working affiliate organizations and members who care as much about promoting this sport as we do. This teamwork approach is a vital ingredient in a successful recipe for spreading major breed and discipline news to the media, members, affiliates and the public at large.
If you don’t have a public relations professional or firm working on your behalf, please take a moment to review the attached “press release guidelines,” before submitting your news and press releases. To see press releases already submitted by other organizations, members, etc., visit www.usef.org, and click on some of the headlines under the “Latest News” section on the homepage. We can’t guarantee that everything you send us will be publicized, but we can guarantee that everything will be carefully reviewed and considered. When appropriate, we’ll post these press releases on our website, publish them in our Week in Review weekly e-newsletter or EQUESTRIAN magazine, and share them with the media.
