Driving

The first of two Mandatory Outings for the drivers on the Short List for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games was held over the weekend at the Carolina Horse Park in Southern Pines, NC. Drivers Bill Long, Cindy O'Reilly, Gary Stover, and Casey Zubek worked under the guidance of US Coaches Peter Tischer and Michael Freund in a competition format. International Judge Johan Lange was also on hand to lend his expertise. All teams passed the vet check and proved over the three days that they are fit and ready for the Games. The second Mandatory Outing will be held September 1-3 at Cedar Lane Farm in Oldwick, NJ.

Jumping

Show Jumping action continued this week at the Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, British Columbia. The $30,000 Summer Classic served as a qualifier for Saturday's World Cup class and US riders Ashlee Bond and Rich Fellers did not disappoint. Canadian Samantha Buirs and Total Touch were third.

The winning continued for Bond in Saturday's $75,000 Keg Steakhouse and Bar World Cup, she guided Cadett 7 over the Peter Holmes designed course in just 34.23. Buirs and Tani Zeidler (CAN) were second and third respectively. Bond is currently the North American West World Cup league point leader.
