Lexington, KY – The athletes of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) have selected Driver Tucker Johnson and Eventing rider Karen O’Connor as flag bearers for Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG).

Johnson and O’Connor are both veteran athletes who have collected accolades for the United States on multiple occasions. Johnson helped the U.S. Driving Team win Team Silver at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, and represented the U.S. dozens of times across the European continent. He is a six-time USEF National Champion and has served for more than five years on the USEF Board of Directors. A stalwart member of the U.S. Driving program, Johnson, 46, has delivered for more than a decade on the field of play while acting as a guardian of the sport on the administrative side as well.

O’Connor, 50, is one of the most decorated athletes at the entire World Games. She first represented the United States at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. She won Team Silver at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and Team Bronze at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and is riding in her fourth World Championships having represented the U.S. in 1994, 1998 (when she was part of the Bronze medal-winning team in 1998) and in 2006. She has also served on the USEF Board of Directors for seven consecutive years, coached Young Riders teams, and shaped the careers of many top riders while being involved at every possible level in the sport of eventing.
