Attention Stallion Owners!
Did you breed your stallion in 2010? If so, your Stallion Service Reports are due January 15, 2011, and there are new rules in effect. If you used frozen semen in lieu of fresh cooled semen, you, the stallion (or frozen semen) owner, are required to file the Stallion Service Report. In the past, it was the mare owner's responsibility under these circumstances, and a Frozen Semen Certificate was required at the time of registration. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE. AMHA has returned the responsibility for filing the Stallion Service Report to the stallion (or frozen semen) owner.
If a mare owner or frozen semen owner is in possession of a previously issued Frozen Semen Certificate, this form must be submitted with the Stallion Service Report, and AMHA will accept your signature on the report.
If you sold multiple units of frozen semen with the intent that the new frozen semen owner could use it on multiple mares or could store it for use in the future, a Notice of Frozen Semen Transfer must be filed with the AMHA. The Notice of Frozen Semen Transfer is solely for reporting purposes; it is not a contract. It is the responsibility of the parties to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
If you are a stallion owner, frozen semen owner, or mare owner who plans to or has bred using frozen semen, please review the Registry Rules and Regulations, which can be found at www.morganhorse.com/registry/rules_regulations/. Please refer to Rule 2, Section 1-A and Rule 9, Sections 1 and 6. These revisions went into effect October 1, 2010, and affect all Stallion Service Reports submitted after this date.
Questions? Please call AMHA at (802) 985-4944 ext. 2, or e-mail [email protected].

Morgans at World Equestrian Games
From the Opening Ceremonies to the popular breed demonstrations, the Morgan breed was met with receptive and appreciative audiences at this year's World Equestrian Games (WEG). The Games, which ran from September 25-October 10, took place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington and was the first time the Games had taken place in the United States.
Beginning with the Opening Ceremonies, Eitan Beth-Halachmy rode Santa Fe Renegade to a world audience. (Editor's Note: As has been previously reported, Eitan became ill following his performance, but is getting better each day. You can read more at http://www.morganhorse.com/news_events/latest_news/eitan_update/.)
The Morgan breed demonstrations were a huge hit, with audience numbers reaching 300-500 people at one time. Among the Morgan performers were:
• And The Beat Goes On, owned by Dragonsmeade
• Del-View Catskill Valiant and Blackwillow Orion, owned by Jeff Wilson
• SBS Risky Business, owned by Jeff Morse, Green Meads Farm
• Mizrahi, owned by PlayMor
• Meet George Jetson, owned by Donna Zimmerman
• DJR Black Nitro and RG Teton's Captain, owned by Guy Brown and Karen Homer Brown
• HVK Baymarch, owned by Saralin Farm
• Evolution, owned by Donna Zimmerman
Other Morgan entertainment included Carole Mercer and her Dancing Morgans, who were invited by the Games to perform in the Equine Village. Many thanks to these horses and their owners for taking the time to promote the Morgan breed!
Sadly, the journey to the World Equestrian Games (WEG) ended on October 6 for the Morgan four-in-hand team that was to compete in combined driving. Two of the five horses did not pass the Games' veterinary inspection. While driver David Saunders was naturally disappointed, he said he respects the decision of the jury. Owned by Alan and Maureen Aulson, the team was comprised of Nordby Coalie's Duke, Nordby Coalie's Coal Dust, and the full brothers Nordby Shadow's Sam Spade and Nordby Shadow's Rocky.
