The Galway Downs International Three-Day Event in Temecula, CA was a busy place over the weekend. Robert Kellerhouse and his team hosted a CCI3*, a CCI2*, CCI1* and a long-format CCI1*. Jennie Brannigan and Cambalda made their trip from the East Coast well worth it, winning the inaugural CCI3* on their dressage score of 46.0. The California native enjoyed her homecoming. Second after the dressage, the pair had near flawless trips in cross-country and show jumping to win as the only pair to finish on their dressage score in the CCI3*. Alexandra Slusher and Last Call added only time penalties on cross-country to finish second; James Alliston and Jumbo's Jake were third.

Slusher had success in the CCI2* as well, leading from day one with Juicy Couture. The pair added only one rail in show jumping to their dressage score, and won on 53.2. Jolie Wentworth and Good Knight were second, Amber Levine and Nantucket Red were third.

In the long-format CC1* Katherine Groesbeck finished first and second aboard Oz the Tin Man and Oz Proof of Purchase respectively. The Anglo-Arabian geldings are full brothers, bred by Groesbeck's parents. Maxance McManamy and Project Runway won the CCI1*.

Boyd Martin, fresh from leading the U.S. team to a fourth place finish at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, traveled to France to compete in the Pau CCI4* with Remington XXV. The pair put in a stellar dressage test to score a 43.2, which left them in fourth going into the cross-country. After picking up 16 time penalties over the testing track, Martin moved up into third. Sunday proved to be a difficult day for all competitors as a deluge of rain left conditions very treacherous. Only two riders managed clear show jumping rounds, Martin and Remington added 16 jumping and one time fault to finish seventh in a very competitive field.

The Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament took place over six days in Cazenovia, NY. Highlighting the week was the $100,000 Detwiler Fenton FEI World Cup Qualifier of Syracuse presented by G&C Farm. Only three riders went clean over the Richard Jeffery-designed course to advance to the jump-off. Margie Engle and Indigo crossed the timers clean in 39.15 seconds to take the win. Marie Hecart (CAN) and Myself De Breaue were second and Harrie Smolders (NED) and Exquis Power Fee were third in a very international finish.

Engle also took top honors in the $30,000 TK99 Speed Derby. With Pamina L., Engle blazed through the timers in 48.91 seconds, leaving all the rails up. Darragh Kenny (IRE) finished second aboard Looping Star, in a time of 49.22.

For the third time in five years, Beezie Madden captured the win in the $80,000 Syracuse Sporthorse Cup presented by Copernicus Stables. In this unique three phase challenge, 20 riders from the International division who accumulated the most points throughout the week are invited back to compete. In phase one, the $30,000 "Hit and Hurry," riders accumulated points by keeping all rails up or received deductions for fallen rails. Following phase one the top seven riders advanced to compete in the second and third phases. Phase two, the popular Four Bar Competition, kept Madden in a tie for the lead; she rode Mademoiselle through four clear rounds and jumped the top height of 6'3". The final round was the speed phase where the fastest clear round earns the most points. Madden was last to go, riding Coral Reef Via Volo and laid down the fastest time for the win. Smolders was second and Kate Levy was third.
