Lexington, KY — December 1, 2010—Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, is offering Eventing fans a new, fun way to watch the excitement.

For the first time spectators may purchase reserved tailgating spaces along portions of the famed Cross-Country Course at the Kentucky Horse Park, giving them a chance to experience the action as never before. The purchase of a tailgating space provides a reserved location for a passenger vehicle plus general admission for up to eight people.

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bridgestone, returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, April 28-May 1, 2011. Cross-Country Day is on Saturday, April 30. One of the world’s most prestigious equestrian competitions and the only Four Star event in the Western Hemisphere, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event annually attracts 50-100,000 spectators and millions of viewers on international telecasts including a 90-minute domestic broadcast on NBC.

“There probably is no more exciting day in equestrian sports than Cross-Country Day at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event,” said Christina Gray, the Event’s Director of Competition. “We are thrilled to present our thousands of fans with this exciting new option to tailgate along portions of the course as they watch horses and riders gallop by at speeds up to 25 mph and negotiate the course’s breathtaking obstacles, water complexes, banks and ditches.”

Standard and Premium tailgating spaces are available at costs of $275 and $325 respectively. Tailgaters may bring their own food or they may pre-order special tailgating food and beverage packages available through Lundy’s Catering. There will also be concessions stands near the tailgating locations.

“The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event really is a time for fun, friends and enjoying good food,” said Gray. “We have no doubt that our new tailgating option will prove to be one of the most popular ways to enjoy Cross-Country Day!”

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is part of the HSBC FEI ClassicsTM and features the world’s best horses and riders vying for their share of $250,000 in prize money as well as a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing which is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four Star Events in succession.
