Saddlebred Blood Typing Fee Changes Announced

by Brice Carr/ASHA News | Dec 14, 2010, 3:49 PM

Lexington, KY - The University of Kentucky Laboratory has notified the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) that effective for samples received on or after Monday, January 3, 2011, the fee for blood typing will be increased.

Further, the lab will not accept blood typing kits between Monday, December 13, 2010 and Monday, January 3, 2011. Due to these changes imposed upon the American Saddlebred Registry, we regretfully will not be able to process orders for blood typing kits between now and January 3, 2011, and in order to cover costs for the increased fee, effective immediately, the new fee for blood typing kits will be $150.

Please note that the new fee of $150 only applies to blood typing. DNA testing and DNA conversion fees are unaffected by this adjustment, and remain unchanged. DNA testing is still $50 and conversions to DNA are $30.

Please also note that this fee adjustment is a direct and proportionate result of an increase in the cost to perform this service, of which ASHA was recently notified by the University of Kentucky Laboratory.
