Despite Record Winter Storms the Winter Mixed Sales Auction was a Success with Franka Potente Being the Top Seller

The European winter is off to a rough and very cold start this year. With record breaking snow and daytime temperatures dropping to 16 F, one might have expected a dismal turnout for the Winter Mixed Sales Auction held on December 4 at the Oldenburg Horse Center in Vechta, Germany. That was not the case, however, thanks to a fantastic lineup of sport horses, broodmares and young stallions, not to mention a very dedicated auction team. The top-priced horse was the mare, Franka Potente, who sold to Bianca Kasselmann, dressage rider and wife of the PSI CEO, Ulrich Kasselmann.

Franka Potente is a fantastic dressage prospect and is the full sister to the approved stallions, Diamont I and II. She is sired by Diamond Hit and comes out of the well known Fackila mare line that has produced the Brilliant Ring Champion mare, Fackese and the 1c Premium winning stallion, Facketanz. This is also the mare line of Crosiadore Farm's mare, Sp.Pr.Mr. Florenzio (Florencio I x Fackira (Lady's King)) who was the Champion mare of the 2008 OHBS Inspection Season for North America. Franka Potente was bred by Hans and Britta Scherbing and was trained and presented by Marcus Busch.

The second highest price was for the licensed stallion, Highland Christmas (Hotline x Kassandra (Sandro Hit). This beautiful stallion was sold to a new buyer from Australia who was very happy with her new Christmas present.

Three sport horses will be headed to the United States. The strong dressage prospect #6, Show Step (Show Star x Andra (Donnerschwee)), the licensed jumper stallion #7 Medocino (Mighty Magic x Lorena (Loredo)), and the expressive moving dressage mare who stems from the famous mare line of Elfi, St.Pr.Ca. Elfenfeuer (Florencio I x St.Pr.St. Elfensonne (Sion)). The beautiful typed jumper broodmare, St.Pr.Ca. Couleurline (Couleur Rouge x Cheez Nouz (Calypso II)) who is in foal to Checkland will also be headed for the US. The States Premium and Elite dressage broodmare, Diamond Girl (Diamond Hit x St.Pr./El.St. Sarina (Sion)) who is in foal to Ampere will be making her new home in Canada.
