Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY - February 9, 2011 - Charlie Jacobs rode his mount Leap of Joy to two blues and the weekend's championship tricolor during in the fourth week of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The duo won both classes during the High Amateur-Owners, completing four clear efforts over the technical track.

Over the 12 weeks of the circuit, Jacobs chooses to show for six weeks. He has employed the pattern of showing one week and then taking the following week off. Jacobs explained, "I elected to show my horses every other week so that by the end of the circuit they only jump a total of six weeks. I really like my horses to be well rested, and I think this program is working well for them."

This week, Jacobs and Leap of Joy were on fire, winning both classes and laying down four clean rounds. "Leap of Joy is a 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding that I got about this time last year. He was an eventer, and has had about a year to focus strictly on his life as a jumper. When he puts it all together, he's incredible. I was really excited about this weekend because he really focused and we had some great rounds together. This week's course designer was Richard Jeffries and I was excited to jump Leap around some of his tracks. Jeffries always asks the right questions of both horse and rider, and didn't shy away this week from the technical elements."

As for Jacobs' future plans, he explained, "I am looking forward to my future with Leap of Joy. He is a great horse with a lot of jump. It's really about focus and patience with him. I'm excited to say that I know his best days are in front of him."

Jacobs joins his entire family while at WEF including his brother Louis, his sister Katie, his sister-in-law-Joan, his wife Kim, his nieces Melissa, Charlotte, Phoebe, Grace, and Maggie, and of course his children, twins Katie and Charlie Jr, and his youngest Will.

Jacobs is very proud of his children and can be seen sitting at the sidelines watching every round of his children. He commented, "I am excited for the rest of the season and enjoying having our whole family together. I love watching my kids show and the ponies have been great."
Continuing with his routine, Jacobs will give his horses' Week V off, but will be at the ring to watch his kids compete. Jacobs will be back to compete with both Ladybird 17 and Leap of Joy during Week VI.
