American Saddlebred Registry Launches $15,000 Incentive Program for Saddlebreds and Half-Saddlebreds in International Disciplines

by ASHA News | Mar 7, 2011, 11:40 AM

Lexington, KY - The American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) and Half-Saddlebred Registry (HSRA) are proud to announce the launch of a new incentive program designed to identify and reward the owners and breeders of registered Saddlebreds and Half-Saddlebreds competing in the International disciplines.

Beginning in 2011, horses registered with ASR or HSRA competing in dressage, driving, endurance/trail, eventing, and show jumping/hunters are eligible for $15,000 in prize money based on their participation and performance in the International disciplines.

“We are excited to launch this innovative new program,” said ASHA President Judy Werner. “Right now, the American Saddlebred is the best-kept secret in the world of equestrian sport. We plan to change that, beginning now.”

To be eligible, horses must be registered Saddlebreds or Half-Saddlebreds, and must be nominated annually for a fee of $150 for the International Incentive Championships. Enrollment forms for the program will be available on the American Saddlebred Horse Association website in the coming days. A Saddlebred Application for Registration form can be obtained here, and a Half-Saddlebred Application for Registration form can be found here.

If you have questions about your horse’s registration status or to register your American Saddlebred or Half-Saddlebred, contact the American Saddlebred Horse Association at [email protected], or by phone at (859) 259-2742.

Based on scores submitted from recognized events, horses will earn points in each discipline, which will determine their eligibility for year-end prize money. Points can be earned at all levels of USEF- or FEI-recognized competitions.
