Lexington, KY - The Paso Fino breed will again be represented in the Parade of Breeds at the Kentucky Horse Park. Owners Will and Carol White of Will Farm LLC in Smithfield, KY, have loaned their black five-year-old gelding, Echo C W.

Echo is now at the Horse Park and will be there through October. The Parade of Breeds is a half-hour demonstration that takes place twice a day throughout the tourist season. It showcases 24 distinct equine breeds in a colorful, informative, and exciting presentation in which rider and horse are dressed in traditional garb and tack, paying homage to each breed’s rich history.

The Paso Fino is sometimes referred to as The Smoothest Riding Horse in the World, due to the even footfall of its natural four-beat gait that is unique to the breed. The gait can be performed at three forward speeds, the Classic Fino, Paso Corto, and Paso Largo. These horses can gait for miles on the trail without fatigue. In addition to being fabulous show horses and trail partners, Paso Fino horses compete in western and versatility classes, endurance rides and competitive trail rides, team penning events, drill team competitions, and parades. They are spirited animals with pleasing dispositions and an elegant presence.

Bred for stamina, smooth gait and beauty, “Los Caballos de Paso Fino,” –the horses with the fine walk- originated in Latin America and have become increasingly more popular in the United States. Paso Fino horses come in all colors, but they all exhibit the same gait and smooth ride. The Paso Fino Horse Association holds the official registry of the breed and now has nearly 5,000 members.

Echo C W is a beautiful black gelding with both show and trail experience. He is gentle at hand and has a spirited gait. His show record includes several placings in the last couple years. As a three year old, Echo was shown in Springfield, Illinois and then at the Tennessee Valley Paso Fino Horse Association Show in Memphis, Tennessee. At the Piedmont Classic in Asheville, North Carolina, Echo won the Amateur Owner three year old colt and gelding class. In the Kentucky Classic in Shelbyville, Kentucky, he placed second in the same class.
