Multi-U.S. National Champion Andalusian Stallion Davido MC Passes Away

by By Brian Sosby | Jul 21, 2005, 12:09 PM

The multi-U.S. National Champion Andalusian stallion, Davido MC, died on May 2, 2005, of an aortic aneurism, while breeding a mare at Selwood Park Stable, in Elkhorn, WI.

Davido MC was owned by Gareth A. Selwood for 12 of the horse's 15 years and was bred by Music City Andalusians of Nashville, TN. He was sired by the imported 2000 USEF Leading Andalusian Sire, Ofendido VII, and out of the imported Poseido V daughter, Huerfana. Davido MC qualified for and showed at a record 11 consecutive Andalusian National Championship Shows.

In 2004, he won his third national championship driving title to add to his seven reserve national championships and 25 U.S. National Top Five awards.

As a sire, Davido MC was twice the USEF Leading Sire of Andalusian/Lusitano show horses (2002 and 2004) and always ranked in the top three leading sires since Andalusians joined the Federation in 1999. In the year 2000, Davido MC was not only the leading sire, but he was the Horse of the Year (HOTY) National Grand Champion Andalusian/Lusitano, a feat he again repeated in 2002. Davido MC's Half-Andalusian sons, Selwood Park Illuminario and MDF Victorio, were both HOTY National Grand Champion Half-Andalusians (2002 and 2004) and his purebred son, Millenium, was twice named USEF HOTY in halter.
