North Salem, NY – The 2011 Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, which return to Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY, May 10-15 and 17-22, will feature two very different types of equestrian competition this year – those with, and without, horses. While the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows will continue to feature many of the nation's best horses and riders competing at all levels, the Old Salem Farm Foundation will host a JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show on Saturday, May 14, following the completion of competition in Old Salem Farm's all-grass Grand Prix Field.

The goal of the Old Salem Farm Foundation is to use the Spring Horse Shows as a vehicle to help support charitable organizations and create an opportunity for corporate sponsors and equestrian athletes to benefit the community during the annual event. The Old Salem Farm Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.

JustWorld International is a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization working as a catalyst for positive change in the developing world by funding life-changing education programs for some of the world's most impoverished children. All proceeds raised from the JustWorld Horseless Horse Show at Old Salem Farm will benefit JustWorld International's projects in Brazil, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Honduras.

A JustWorld Horseless Horse Show is run like a regular horse show, with children of all ages jumping a course of human-size obstacles on foot. The classes are run like jumper classes (fastest time without knocking down any rails wins), and the $15 per class entry fee goes directly to support JustWorld projects as part of the JustWorld "Kids Helping Kids" program.

Classes will be available at five different height levels, so kids of all ages are able to join in the fun! Following are the classes that will be offered during the JustWorld Horseless Horse Show at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows:

1. Short Stirrup Jumpers (Very Low fence height, Under 10 years old)
2. Children’s Jumpers (2’3”-2’6”, Under 14 years old)
3. Pair Relay Jumpers (Very low fence height, All ages)
4. High Jump (Starts at 2’9”, All ages)
5. Grand Prix (2’9”-3’, Under 18 years old)

"We are very excited to add the JustWorld International Horseless Horse Show to our schedule in our Grand Prix Field," said Scott Hakim, president of Old Salem Farm. "It will be wonderful to see the children running and jumping over the JustWorld International jumps with the larger Grand Prix jumps in the background. You don't have to be a Grand Prix rider to compete in this class – so we encourage everybody to come and enjoy the experience!"

Entry forms for the JustWorld horseless horseshow can be picked up at the horse show office or at the JustWorld International information booth, which will be located at the Beval Mobil Unit Trailer on the horse show grounds.

This year, the Old Salem Farm Foundation will also provide support to such charitable organizations as Voss Foundation and Pegasus Therapeutic Riding in addition to JustWorld International.

Highlighting the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows are the $25,000 Welcome Stake on May 13, $40,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix on May 15, $25,000 North Salem Grand Prix on May 20, and the $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix, presented by Land Rover, Mt. Kisco and Larchmont, on May 22.

The shows also feature a $20,000 Speed Derby of North Salem on May 21, $15,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, a member event of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame on May 22, $10,000 United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) International Hunter Derby on May 21 and $10,000 Leading Hunter Rider Award , which will be announced on May 22.
