The Race for Maui Heats Up Among Northern California Hunter Trainers

by By Langer Equestrian Group | Jul 27, 2005, 4:53 PM

Following the sold out, three-show Woodside Summer Circuit, John Bragg leads the point standings for the 2005 Woodside Hunter Incentive. At each of the seven USEF “A”- and “AA”-rated hunter/jumper shows at the Horse Park at Woodside, each trainer’s five highest scoring hunters are counted toward his or her Hunter Incentive points. All hunter sections count toward the points: junior, amateur, children’s, adult, ponies and open. This year’s contest ends at the Woodside Fall Finale (September 29-October 2), and points at this show will count double.

The winning trainer receives an eight-day, seven-night stay at the lovely Maui Marriott Ocean Resort in an ocean front villa right on Ka’anapali Beach. Last year’s winner, Leslie Nelson was overjoyed at winning the vacation. “What an unbelievable prize for a show organizer to award,” said Nelson. “We love coming to the Woodside shows. They are so well run and in such a lovely setting. To be able to win a trip to Maui is just incredible.”

In addition to the Maui vacation awarded to the top hunter trainer, the top five trainers each receive a cash award equal to the points they accumulated during the 2005 Woodside Hunter Incentive program. While Bragg is excited about the possibility of winning a trip to Maui, he is even more positive about the Woodside shows. “We have longed needed some high-quality shows here in Northern California, and the Horse Park at Woodside just keeps getting nicer every year.”

Point Standings for the top six trainers after the Woodside Summer Circuit:
-John Bragg 1465.5
-Lyn Irving 1272.3
-Jan Pearce 1233.0
-Leslie Nelson 1048.0
-Diane Yeager 1047.0
-Jill Hamilton 971.0
