Sherri Soper has been breeding high quality straight Egyptian Arabian horses ever since she fell in love with a daughter of Alidaar over a decade ago. Alidaar, a full brother to national Champion Ruminaja Ali, was a popular and successful breeding sire and the mare, Aletheia (x Waseemah AHSA by El Moongi) turned out to be the investment of a lifetime for Sherri. The first foal she produced for SS Arabians was a wonderful grey mare by Shahir IASB named Shahirs Abriel.

“Shahirs Abriel was my first Egyptian Arabian foal as a breeder,” Sherri smiles, “and in 2007 she produced the Ansata Sinan son El Khaled, the colt that put SS Arabians on the map.”

El Khaled was a stunning young horse. He caught the eye of Swiss breeder Nayla Hayek of Hanaya Arabian Stud and as a three-year-old took Europe by storm, winning Junior Champion Colt honors at the 2010 Egyptian Cup and the 2010 European Egyptian Event. The success of the cross was not lost on Sherri who spent several years combining the bloodlines of Ansata Sinan with her Alidaar daughters and granddaughters.

“We had several offspring sired by him,” says Sherri. “Recently his full brother Shaariq Ibn Sinan was exported to Bahrain. We look forward to following his show career in the Middle East and Europe. ”Meanwhile, El Khaled has become a sire as well and has offspring in Dubai, Europe and soon, Bahrain.”

Just a few years ago Sherri relocated to Wellton, a small town in southern Arizona. It turned out to be an unfortunate choice. Within a short period of time the veterinary clinic near Sherri’s ranch greatly reduced its large animal and breeding services, leaving Sherri stranded hundreds of miles from the nearest breeding support with a straight Egyptian breeding operation.

“We did miraculously have three beautiful foals in 2010,” Sherri says somewhat wistfully. “We had two colts, one by El Khaled and one by *Mishaal HP, and a lovely filly by Imperial Al Kamar. We are not expecting any foals this year. It’s disappointing.”

Sherri Soper has made the very difficult decision to sell her horses. There are four beautifully bred mares as well as the aforementioned filly and, in addition to the two yearling colts, two Ansata Sinan sons. One of the young stallions is a three-quarter brother to the celebrated Champion El Khaled.

“It is honestly breaking my heart,” admits Sherri, “but sometimes decisions like these have to be made. Someone will be able to go on with these beautiful, well-bred horses.”
