Fifteen-Year-Old Henry Pfeiffer Captures his First Grand Prix Win

by By Horse Shows by the Bay | Jul 28, 2005, 11:56 AM

Henry Pfeiffer, who competed in his first grand prix at Horse Shows By The Bay I, posted the only double clear to win the Grand Traverse Bay Grand Prix on Fox Meadow Farm’s seven-year-old gelding, Preston. Pfeiffer's goal was just to go clean in the jump-off, and when he pulled off the win, he said that he felt like he swallowed his heart. English Riding Supply, a proud sponsor of Horse Shows By The Bay, provided the winner with Veredus show jumping boots.

The Grand Traverse Bay Grand Prix was one of many feature events to take place in the Zada Ring at Horse Shows by the Bay, Series II, held July 20-24, 2005. The $10,000 Welcome Stake, sponsored by Positive Step Farm, was won by Wilhelm Genn on Ariado. Wilhelm was also the recipient of Veredus boots and a Centaur wool cooler provided by English Riding Supply. Krystal Roe and For Sure won the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame JR/AO Jumper Prix sponsored by NLB Corp. of Wixom, MI. Krystal received a beautiful gold and diamond necklace pendant from EverAfter Diamonds and John Lydick for her win.

The Pony Hunter Classic was won by Madeline Cooley and Dances With Wolves. Madeline and her large pony received an embroidered scrim and a pair of custom half chaps from vendor EquiStarr Chaps. Equitation winner Jacqueline Black received a full set of sheepskin lined Pessoa Boots for her victory in the Pessoa/USEF Medal class.

Horse Shows by the Bay is in its second year of production and is owned and managed by Dean and Alexandra Rheinheimer of Wellington, FL. The organization’s premise is to provide a quality event that caters to the many owners, trainers, exhibitors, and sponsors that are the backbone of the industry. The Rheinheimers chose Traverse City, MI, to host the three-week show series because the area offers fantastic restaurants, hotels, climate, golfing and other related outdoor activities.
