Beacon Hill Horse Transportation 1.45m Power and Speed Class Highlights Thursday at 42nd Annual Intercat, Inc. Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, NY — Todd Minikus of Wellington, FL, rode Romy to victory in the Beacon Hill Horse Transportation 1.45m Power and Speed Class to highlight Thursday’s competition at the 42nd annual Intercat, Inc. Lake Placid Horse Show.

Minikus, winner of the horse show’s $75,000 Mirror Lake Inn Grand Prix of Lake Placid in 2007 and $75,000 Woodlea Farms I Love NY Grand Prix in 2004, was one of seven entries from the starting field of 15 to qualify for the speed section of the course by completing the power portion without penalty. He then completed the speed section fault-free in a blistering 34.830 seconds to claim the win over second-place finisher Peter Lutz of Goldens Bridge, NY, who finished fault-free in 40.224 seconds on Indiana 127.

Other winners on Thursday included Richie Moloney on Bailey in the High Peaks Resort 1.40m Open Speed Class; Molly Banfield on Petrus in the Deeridge Farms Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Class; and Jennifer Goddard on Wynamorka in the Lake Placid Lodge 1.30m Speed Class.

The Intercat, Inc. Lake Placid Horse Show runs through Sunday and is followed at the North Elba Showgrounds by the 34th annual Intercat, Inc. I Love New York Horse Show, July 5 -10.

Highlighting this year's Intercat Inc. Lake Placid Horse Shows are two Grand Prix events— The $75,000 Mirror Lake Inn Grand Prix of Lake Placid presented by Intercat Inc, on Sunday, July 3 and the $75,000 Woodlea Farms Grand Prix, presented by Intercat Inc, on Saturday, July 9. Following the $75,000 Woodlea Farms Grand Prix, the Richard and Diana Feldman Perpetual Challenge Trophy for Excellence is awarded to the rider who has won the most combined prize money in Lake Placid’s two Grand Prix.

Guided walking tours of the horse show’s North Elba Showgrounds are available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of each week for just $1.00 per person. The tours leave at 11:00 am from the Lake Placid Horse Show merchandise booth.

Admission to the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows is just $2.00 on weekdays and $5.00 on weekends.
