Devon, PA - The beautiful weather continued at the prestigious Devon Show Grounds for the first annual Brandywine Valley Summer Series, presented by Taylor Harris Insurance Services. The professional hunter divisions wrapped up their second day of competition, and it was Louise Serio and Sandy Ferrell that rose to the top as joint Green Hunter Circuit Champions with Rock On and Moshi. Serio also claimed the High Performance Hunter Circuit Championship.

The First Year Green/High Performance Hunter division, sponsored by Wyndsor Farm and Jane Forbes Clark, kicked-off the day with Rock On and Serio taking home the championship prize after winning four of the five classes. The reserve championship prize went to Jennifer Bauersachs of Frenchtown, NJ, and C'est Si Bon, who earned a first place ribbon, a third place ribbon, and two fourth place ribbons. Serio was very pleased with the talented mount, who also claimed this week's Grand Champion Green Hunter title and the joint Green Hunter Circuit Championship.

"Rock On was great; he's so consistent," said Serio. "He's such a mellow horse, and I think these two weeks he's been very consistent and he's ridden very well. He's a little lazy, but sometimes he can take over a little bit. I am very pleased with how he went this week."

Serio also earned top ribbons over the last two weeks with her second mount, Phillipa. The duo was presented with the High Performance Hunter Circuit Championship. "This is Phillipa's sixth horse show being a hunter and she's really doing great," noted Serio. "Phillipa has really settled in to her role and knows that the jumps are not going to be mountains. She is just awesome to ride; she's got so much scope and stride. Phillipa won nine World Cup classes and did the Hong Kong trials, so you know she can jump. We are very lucky to have her and she is just an amazing horse."

Jennifer Burger of Buffalo, NY, who is a Co-Chair of the Brandywine Valley Summer Series, owns both Phillipa and Rock On, and was thrilled with their performances in the ring. "I am so proud to be the owner of two such talented horses," she smiled. "Louise does an incredible job with each of them and I cannot thank her enough for all of her hard work. It is also very special to win such important awards at an event that means so much to me, and I am thrilled with how the past two weeks have gone at this incredible venue."

Serio, who is also the Brandywine Valley Summer Series Executive Director, added, "I think the show is going great, I am very happy with how it has turned out and I think the people are happy. The whole thing is working out really well. It's also always exciting to win circuit awards when you're competing. I thought that the courses were real, the jumps were real, and the horses went nicely."

The next division of the day in the Dixon Oval was the Green Conformation Hunters sponsored by Madison Hills Farm. Sandy Ferrell and Moshi, owned by Stephanie Riggio of New York, NY, had an incredible clear sweep of the division, winning all five classes and the model. Their performance in the ring garnered them the division's championship honors, as well as the joint Green Hunter Circuit Championship. Earning the Green Conformation Hunters Reserve Championship was Molly Sewell and Gisele, owned by Porter Allen of Boerne, TX.

"Moshi was great this week," commented Ferrell. "He's such a good horse, everyone at Meadow View has done such an incredible job with him since Florida. This week he rode around like a wise old soul. He did everything I asked him to do happily. Yesterday, he was amazing and got very good scores. Today he was a little tired because it's hot out, but still never stopped trying, listened to everything I asked him to do and was beautiful to ride this week."

Ferrell continued, "The Brandywine Valley Summer Series is going to be a huge hit. Louise, Jen, and the whole team have done a beautiful job. It's so nice is and it's very relaxing; we get to compete at the Devon Show Grounds and enjoy ourselves."

The Pre-Green Hunter division also awarded its championship honors today, with Phoebe De Mott of Ceders, PA, and Fhinancier taking home the winning prize.

Later in the Dixon Oval, the Adult Amateur Hunters took to the ring to compete for championship and reserve championship honors in their respective age groups. Eventually, the joint Grand Champion Adult Amateur Hunter award was presented to Lisa Hunt of Marshall, VA for her ride aboard Raise the Bar, and First Look, owned and ridden by Laura Flanagan of Wrightstown, PA.

The final competition for the Adult Amateur Hunters was the $500 M&S Adult Amateur Hunter Classic, where Lee Kellogg Sadrian of New York, NY, showed Wingman to the first place prize after earning scores of 83 and 86 for a 169 total. The second place honors went to Leslie Schillat of Wayne, PA, and Colorful for their two round total of 167, while Shayne Mackey of West Chester, PA, and Fitzwilliam followed in third with an overall score of 156.

The Brandywine Valley Summer Series will continue tomorrow with Amateur Owner Hunters, as well as the $10,000 Canine Partners for Life Mini Prix, which will get underway at 6:30 p.m. under the lights in the Dixon Oval. On Saturday, the hunter riders will take center stage in the evening with the $3,000 Johnson Horse Transportation USHJA National Hunter Derby.
