Dressage

At the CDI Falsterbo in Sweden, Catherine Haddad-Staller and Winyamaro finished fifth in both the Grand Prix class and the Grand Prix Freestyle class with scores of 68.255% and 71.375%, respectively. In the Agria Rider Challenge - Lag, Haddad-Staller finished third with rides on Charleston, Efendi, and Mainau scoring 60.307%, 66.228%, and 64.518%, respectively.

Eventing

At the picturesque Barbury Castle CIC3* in Great Britain, Will Coleman and Twizzel finished seventh in a division of more than 100. The pair added only a handful of time penalties on cross-country to their dressage score to finish on a 50.2. In the CIC2* B division, British-based Aimee Chambers and After Eight finished eighth with a score of 53.0. Californian Tiana Coudray and Ringwood Magister were 15th with a 56.6.

Jumping

It was another busy weekend for U.S. riders in Calgary at the Spruce Meadows North American Tournament. Rich Fellers started off the weekend with two wins, one with Flexible in the 1.60m SUN LIFE FINANCIAL "Reach for the Sun" and the other with McGuinness in the 1.45m SUNCAST Cup.

Kent Farrington finished third in the 1.45m SUNCAST Cup with Valhalla and second in the 1.60m SUN LIFE FINANCIAL "Reach for the Sun" with Uceko. Mario Deslauriers and Vicomte D also started off the weekend with a win in the 1.50m BANTREL Cup where Beezie Madden and Cortes C finished third. U.S. riders dominated the top five in the 1.50m AON Cup with Caitlin Ziegler and Valencia taking top honors. At 16, she became the youngest rider to win an FEI class in the International Ring at Spruce Meadows.

Madden picked up a win with Coral Reef Via Volo in the 1.60m D-Line Cup, where Richard Spooner and Cristallo came in third. Fellers was the top U.S. finisher in the 1.45m HORSE HEALTH CARE Cup, coming in third with Colgan Cruise. U.S. riders also dominated the top four in the 1.45m PEPSI Challenge with Spooner and Pariska 2 taking home the win. Spooner also won the 1.50m LAFARGE Cup with Apache, while McLain Ward finished second and Leslie Howard came in third. Hannah Selleck and Es Carando Z were the top American pair in the 1.50m TD Cup.

U.S. riders made quite a showing in the 1.60m $200,000 ATCO POWER Queen Elizabeth II Cup. Spooner and Flexible were second behind reigning Olympic Gold medalists, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead. Fourth through tenth places also went to American riders. Ziegler and Valencia had another strong finish, coming in second place in the 1.50m AKITA DRILLING Cup. Spooner had one more top performance in the 1.60m CENOVUS ENERGY Classic Derby, coming in second place with Cristallo.

At the CSIO5* Falsterbo in Sweden, Schuyler Riley took top honors in the Aaa Six Bar with Lapacco, with the pair being clear all the way up to 1.85m. Lucy Davis was second with Hannah in the 1.50m SEB, Qualification to the Grand Prix, while Christine McCrea and Avenir finished seventh. In the 1.50m Kopparbergs Trophy, Qualification to the Grand Prix, McCrea and Avenir finished sixth. McCrea and Romantovich Take One finished ninth in the 1.60m Longines Falsterbo Grand Prix.

In the FEI Nations Cup of Sweden, the U.S. team finished in sixth place with 23 faults. In the first round, McCrea and Romantovich Take One had the only clear round for the team, while Charlie Jayne and Athena had the lone clear round in the second.

At the CSI Santander in Spain, Zazou Hoffman had her best finish of the weekend with Winia Van't Vennehof, coming in ninth in the 1.30m FIATC Seguros Trophy.

At the CSI La Clusaz in France, Maggie McAlary and Caliana were seventh in the 1.35m Prix Les Amis De Gian Lanoir and eighth in the 1.25m Prix Du Comite Regional d'Equitation.

Erin Characklis-Hesse and Carolina won the 1.15m opening competition of the DKB-Federal Championship for five-year-old horses at the CSI Gera in Germany. Characklis-Hesse also had a sixth-place finish with Canberra in the 1.35m Silver Tour Two-Phases.

Vaulting

The U.S. Vaulting contingent posted fantastic results at this year's CHIO in Aachen, Germany with a full complement of athletes. The "developing team" was made up of a mixture of seasoned veterans and vaulters new to performing at CHIO Aachen. The squad won two medals at the world's most competitive vaulting competition, and has had solid results through three days of classes.

Mary McCormick gave a very impressive performance through three days of competition in the Female Individual classification. On Friday, she and Gustafsson with longeur Lars Hansen posted a score of 8.227 for fourth place in the freestyle class. She improved on Saturday in the second classification freestyle test with a score of 8.240. On Sunday, she received a final score of 7.901 for the overall Bronze medal in the individual female classification.

The second Bronze medal for USA Vaulting came in the new Pas de Deux class with USA Vaulting veterans Devon Maitozo and Rosalind Ross. They started out with a score of 7.805 on Friday vaulting with equine partner Flashlight and longeur Alexandra Knauf. On Saturday, they finished with a final score of 7.911 for the Bronze medal.

Craig Coburn, U.S. Chef d'Equipe said, "As the USA Vaulting Chef d 'Equipe at the 2011 CHIO Aachen, I am proud to say that the American team was extremely successful this weekend. With the support of the USEF, we were able to win two medals; Mary McCormick won the Bronze medal in the Ladies Individual event, while Devon Maitozo and Rosalind Ross won the Bronze medal, this is also the first time the U.S. has competed internationally in Pas de Deux."

The U.S. Nation Cup team of Mary McCormick, George Joseph Gadd and the Woodside team posted a score of 7.013 for a fifth place in the final results of the Nationenpreis.

On the opening day, the United States team from Mt. Eden Sun placed fourth in the compulsory test on equine teammate Jarl with longeur Lasse Kristensen. They posted a final score of 6.620 in the Preis der Sparkasse class. On Sunday, the team improved their score to 7.205 for a second-place finish in the freestyle test.

"These victories were particularly sweet considering both of our full Teams and several of our promising individual vaulters are quite young," said Coburn. "Our success in the 2011 CHIO Aachen is a very promising look into the future of high performance vaulting in the United States."
