Lexington, KY - The 2011 Kentucky Summer Horse Shows will begin this Wednesday and run for two weeks, followed by the USEF Pony Finals, the Bluegrass Festival Classic, and the KHJA Horse Show. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will be held July 27-31, 2011, and will be followed by the Kentucky Summer Classic, scheduled for August 3-7, 2011. The North American Junior Young Rider Championships will run concurrently with the Kentucky Summer Horse Show.

Held at the renowned Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, the Kentucky Summer Horse Show will include the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Classic, the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, and the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by Audi of Lexington. The Hagyard Lexington Classic will take place on July 28, and both the National Hunter Classic and Kentucky Summer Grand Prix will occur on July 31.

In addition to the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, the Kentucky Summer Horse Show Series features three other 'AA' shows: the Kentucky Summer Classic, held August 3-7, 2011, the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show, held August 17-21, 2011, and the Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association (KHJA) Horse Show, held August 24-28, 2011. All shows are hosted by Kentucky Horse Shows LLC, and will serve as qualifying events for the Washington International Championships and the North American League Finals.

The nations top horse and rider combinations will then competed during the Kentucky Summer Classic, which will feature the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic on August 4, as well as the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Grand Prix on August 6.

The Bluegrass Festival Horse Show includes the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic on August 19 and the $40,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix on August 21. The $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals will also take place at the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show, offering spectators the opportunity to see the countries top hunters in action on August 19 and 20.

During the fourth week of this dynamic series, the KHJA Horse Show includes the $10,000 Hagyard Welcome Stake on August 26, the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Classic on August 27, and the $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix on August 28.

All of the events within the Hagyard Challenge Series will allow riders to garner points towards the coveted $45,000 Leading Rider Award. Following completion of the seven-class series, the rider with the most points will take home this illustrious honor in September at the Kentucky National Horse Show, also in Lexington.

Adding to the Kentucky Horse Park's impressive summer calendar, the North American Junior and Young Riders Championships will be held concurrently with the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, July 27-31. In addition, the USEF Pony Finals will be held at the venue August 9-14. All of the exciting events in the Kentucky Summer Horse Show Series will be held at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park. Blending world-class competition with all that the local Lexington area has to offer, the park provides top-notch stabling, multiple exercise rings, plenty of spacious areas for riding, and miles of scenic trails.
