Competition Gets Underway at the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship

Saugerties, NY – September 16, 2011 - After a dreary Thursday evening at the 2011 Fall Festival of Dressage and the 2011 USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship, Friday welcomed blue skies and chilly air. In the CPEDI3* ring, Para-Eque

strians competed for their Team scores in each Grade Ia, Ib, II, III, and IV. The United States dominated the divisions with scores reaching as high as 75.00% from Grade Ib winner Jonathan Wentz and NTEC Richter Scale. Wentz earned the one-two spot in his division with NTEC Richter in first place and NTEC Jabriel in second place. In the Ia division Donna Ponessa also took home both placings earning her top score with Otto and 
her second place finish with new horse Western Rose. Saugerties has been a weekend of 
firsts for many equestrians including Dale Dedrick of Michigan. Dedrick captured the Grade II top score with horse Bonifatius. In Grade III Wendy Fryke outperformed her competitors earning her the Grade III win and also a large round of applause from the audience. Rounding out the day were the Grade IV Para-Equestrians with Ireland rider James Dwyer and his horse Orlando.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., Para-Equestrians will compete Saturday in the Freestyle section of their competition. Sunday will end with the Individual Championship and the presentation of the 2011 USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Champion.
